The Member representing Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Abang, PhD, has congratulated Rt. Hon. Chris Etta on his election as the substantive Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State Chapter.
Etta emerged at the party’s State Congress held on Tuesday, part of the APC’s nationwide congresses conducted across several states of the federation.
His victory followed what party officials described as overwhelming support from delegates, who mandated him to steer the affairs of the party in the state.
In a congratulatory message, Hon. Abang praised Etta’s leadership credentials, describing him as eminently qualified and well-suited for the position.
He noted that the former federal lawmaker, who once represented the same constituency in the National Assembly, possesses the experience, capacity, and vision required to strengthen the party’s structure and cohesion in Cross River.
Abang commended party delegates for what he termed a thoughtful and strategic choice, expressing confidence that Etta’s tenure would be marked by unity, inclusiveness, and purposeful leadership.
The lawmaker also appreciated the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, for the confidence reposed in Etta, describing the new chairman as a proud and worthy son of the Boki community.
According to Abang, Etta’s emergence aligns with the governor’s vision of inclusive governance, strategic leadership recruitment, and accelerated socio-economic development for the state.
Rt. Hon. Etta, a two-term member of the House of Representatives and former Chairman of the National Lottery Commission, is widely regarded as an experienced administrator with a track record in public service.
Political observers say his election signals a renewed drive to consolidate party unity and deepen democratic governance in Cross River State.
